Universe to remain open - Nexus
Mon 21 Apr 2008, 10:53 AM | 84 Comments, last comment by fallenleader
Based partly on the public outcry and mostly on the people that have chosen to contribute towards the continued existence of TAU, UU, FU, SCU I have decided to keep the Universe open.

Please enjoy the sites.

Inbetween the "hacking" of two universes, long standing modder Under_Ware found the time to release v0.5 of his Operation Polaris game package for the Spring Engine. First, here's a video and a screenshot:
Operation Polaris features:
- Jetski and motorbikes!
- Commando with C4!
- Sniping towers with lasersight!
- Tiltwings!
- Six Wheeled Amphibious Assault Vehicles!
- And more!
So get the Spring engine and the Operation Polaris .sdz (goes into /mods/) now! Make sure to only play as Antartic Republic, as the US side isn't finished yet. For single player it is advised to use the RAI A.I. .dll (goes into /AI/Bot-libs/). Since Panties is now officialy banned from TAUniverse for the aforementionned actions, you are required to post feedbacks or comments in OP's boredicon's forum.

Announcement from Storm about FileUniverse - TheRegisteredOne
Sun 20 Apr 2008, 2:34 PM | 0 Comments
FU.LUCKZ.DE is now the de-facto FileUniverse site since the other one finally collapsed and imploded.

Situation:
Images - Working
Files - Working, lacking Spring section (files en route)
Upload - Damaged (fixed before Monday GMT)
Bandwidth - Somewhat limited, do not attempt to "backup" this site or we will die.
All your old hot-links STILL WORK if you just replace "www.fileuniverse.com" with "fu.luckz.de".

According to popular estimates, we will have a lossless replica of the old page on this mirror as well as public mirroring set within two weeks. We are still searching for a more stable, commercial host, which we will pay out of our own pockets (and thus would appreciate if you clicked the ads - we will let you know when).

To join the discussion about the future of FU, UU and other remnants of the *Universe network, go to www.boredicons.com/wiki or chat with us on www.boredirc.com

We will spend hours and weeks on this, just for you, so any help and cooperation is welcome.

If you visit FileUniverse now, you will receive this message:
Bandwidth Limit Exceeded
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.
Luckily, there is a backup to FileUniverse off of the Universe network here: fu.luckz.de. So if you need files, visit fu.luckz.de.

Save the Universe! - BlueWolf

After a recent announcement by Nexus, owner of the Universe network, a second chance is being offered to everyone. Through donations (via PayPal) and additional support, the sites that hold this great community together may be saved.

Help us to keep the Universe sites up and running by donating for the servers. The monthly costs are high and we need your help to maintain TAUniverse.com, FileUniverse.com, UnitUniverse.com, SupComUniverse.com, TA Zone, TADRS, and all of the hosted sites.

Please support the Universe network with a donation or monthly subscription. (See this thread for more information should you require it.)

Thank you in advance for your support.

I have full backup copes of all the TAU and SCU hosteds.

If you want a backup of your site, please contact me to receive a FULL backup of everything on your site: FTP, SQL databases, everything. It's one (very, very large, in some cases) compressed file. It'll make things easier for you and save Nexus bandwidth.

Don't try to download TAU - TheRegisteredOne

Don't try to download the entirety of TAU. There are already people transfering data to other servers. To download for the purpose of backing up would be to waste bandwidth for them, which might leave them without enough to finish the job. Thank you for your cooperation.

Possible Closure of TAU, UU, FU, and all its hosteds - BlueWolf
Mon 14 Apr 2008, 7:05 PM | 0 Comments
Following an announcement by Nexus, TAUniverse.com, FileUniverse.com, UnitUniverse.com, TA Zone, SupComUniverse.com, TADRS, and all of its hosted sites may be closing down, and with it, what is left of the Total Annihilation Community, much to the sadness of many members.

We would like you show your support for Nexus and TAUniverse.com, FileUniverse.com, UnitUniverse.com, and the TA Community in this thread, vote Yes. Thank you.

On behalf of TAU, we would all also like to apologise to Nexus for the recent immaturity exhibited by a minor group of people. They are not representive of TA Community, please do not let them get their way. We would also like to say thank you, for all of the time, effort, and resources you have provided for this great site, and the community that has been produced as a result.

New Maps Released by PROMETHEUS - BlueWolf
Sat 29 Mar 2008, 4:43 PM | 17 Comments, last comment by NLJ
After a lot of hard work by PROMETHEUS, five brand new maps have been released!

Most of these are 15x15 maps and are all fairly open, with metal patches (indicated with white dots on the images below and on minimaps in-game) clustered around strategically to "help make planning and developing strategies clearer".

From left to right the maps are called: Homeworld, Uppercut, Cyclone, Memories, and Sky Fortress.

You can download the maps here, and a thread for posting feedback and thoughts can be found here. Enjoy!
